For day two of Belonging Week we met some 🛸"out of this world"🛸members of the recently-established Edmond Transition Academy!
If you didn't know, the ETA is a school space for EPS students ages 18-22 with disabilities where they can practice skills that will enable them to live independently, participate in the community, and acquire jobs after leaving EPS! They even have their own 🎁gift shop🎁 (See the link below!)!
Henry, Jayden, and Joy were able to share a little bit about themselves and their jobs (shout-outs to Beehive Salon, Ida Freeman Elementary, and Uptown Grocery for creating space for EVERYONE to BELONG). We were also able to hear from other ETA students about how we can all play to our own 💪strengths💪 and learn to lift up others around us in the process.
The ETA is an incredible extension of what we hope Belonging Week inspires - working together to build a more inclusive community from the ground up, acknowledging individual strengths and utilizing them for the collective good, and creating the 🪐space for everyone to belong and thrive🪐. Thank you, ETA for sharing your work with us and for leading by example!
We also owe a huge thank you to 🍪Crumbl Cookies🍪 on I-35 for donating some sweet treats to our new friends - we so appreciate you contributing to our Belonging Week!
Show the Edmond Transition Academy and Crumbl some love in our 👇comments below👇! And if you're looking to get a little Friday surprise for someone special, consider the ETA gift shop (https://www.successfund.com/ETA?fbclid=IwY2xjawFXD1FleHRuA2FlbQIxMAABHdg0i); they have pick-up options in addition to delivery to all EPS sites!
🐬We're better together🐬!
PS: We spy a serendipitous twin duo! We love an on-theme graphic tee!

⭐The first day of our THIRD ANNUAL BELONGING WEEK was a showstopper!⭐
Students and staff came Red Carpet Ready, and fittingly so because our guest speaker today, Jocelyn Manjarrez, in addition to being an Angie Debo alum and barista, is also a local theater star!
Jocelyn came back to Angie Debo today to share a little bit about what her life has looked like since graduating from EPS. We learned that:
💜Jocelyn is a lover of animals - she has four dogs and nine guinea pigs!
💜She's performed in the musical versions of Spongebob and Madagascar!
💜Her dream role is to play Princess Fiona in Shrek the Musical!
💜She works at Not Your Average Joe!
💜Her favorite part of her job is meeting new people and writing messages on their cups!
💜She was Autism Oklahoma's Lady Ambassador when she was 20!
Aside from her accolades. Jocelyn shared some poignant words with us about her lived experience. To Jocelyn, all autism means is that she learns and sees the world a little differently. She also shared some words of wisdom we can all live by - three rules she's learned through summer camps at Oklahoma Children's Theatre - "Be kind, be safe, and be brave".
🐬So let's all take a page from Jocelyn's book and go out into the world being kind, safe, and brave in paving the way for belonging!🐬
And of course, Belonging Week wouldn't be possible without help from our community, so a huge thank you to the Angie Debo PTO for coordinating guest-speaker goodie bags with donations from Blue7, Not Your Average Joe, Torchy's Tacos, and Magnolia Soap!
💜We truly are better together!💜
Give Jocelyn some love in the comments below, and let us know your student's favorite part about today!

Are you ready for some football?!🏈

The countdown is on!7️⃣
A week from today we will begin celebrating our 🎉THIRD ANNUAL Belonging Week🎉, and while we have A LOT of fun things planned, we want to take this opportunity to remind all of our Dolphins of the true purpose behind our week-long celebration!
Our Special Education department is all about thoughtful collaboration - one of our EPS core values. Over the years, they have carefully worked together to cultivate inclusion around our building so that all 🐬Angie Debo students🐬feel like they BELONG - regardless of ability.
But of course, we're better when we all work together, so our celebration of Belonging Week is a way for 🧒every person in the building👧 (every faculty member, staff member, student, and family), to get excited about the possibility of being more inclusive. This isn't just a week for our SpEd Department, it's a week for us all to learn, reflect, and grow - an opportunity to know better, do better, and be better!
So check out our dress-up days for next week, and start thinking about belonging and inclusion! This discourse isn't just for adults; 💜we know our kids have the infinite capacity to imagine a better world💜!
And remember, at Angie Debo, there is 🚀SPACE🚀 for everyone to BELONG.
❣️*If you'd like to contribute to belonging initiatives around our building, you can preorder headbands and t-shirts, or you can simply donate using this link: https://sfnd.io/nzrvw !*❣️

Wellness Wednesdays have a fresh, new look thanks to our friends at Kirkpatrick Bank!🟦

We love that we live and work in a community where we have partners that find ways to support us in all the work we do - and who doesn’t love a good matching tee?!💜

👩🏫We love that K-Start offers our kinder teachers the opportunity to observe all students, their strengths, and their unlimited potentials prior to setting rosters, creating a foundation of equity for all of our little scholars!👨🏫

🐬And happy Monday to our kinder kids - good luck and do well this year!🐬

Aaaaaaand we’re back!🍎
Two days into the new school year, and can we just say - WE’RE SO HAPPY TO BE BACK TOGETHER AS A DOLPHIN FAMILY!🐬
From school friends and teacher families to our PTO (and all of our Dolphins in between), we cannot thank you enough for your contributions to our little family! There’s no better place to be than here at Angie!💜
A huge shout-out to Ace Party Supplies and simply sign it OK, Back-to-School wouldn’t be complete without a little sparkle and pizzazz!✨🎈

Woah, Dolphins - it’s only three more sleeps until we get to be back together celebrating the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL! Are you ready?!🍎🐬
We all know the best part of Back-to-School is being reunited with friends and showing off that trendy, new haircut or hairstyle, breaking in a fresh, new pair of sneakers, dressing up in a cute, new outfit, sporting a sharp, new backpack - or just getting a new start with limitless possibilities!💇👟👖🎒
The Cunningham cuties have their new outfits ready, but if you haven’t gotten those yet, keep in mind, our PTO will be selling new shirts tomorrow at Meet the Teacher!
Show us what you’re most excited to have on your person on the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL in the comments! And don’t forget, tomorrow from 3:00 to 6:00 you can pop in to MEET YOUR TEACHER!👩🏼🏫🧑🏫

It’s time for WWW, Dolphins!💜
Today we want to give a special Back-to-School well wish to our fifth-grade graduates who are about to be picking up their middle school schedules - time flies!🦅
But once a Dolphin, always a Dolphin, so go show Summit what we’re all about!🐬
And always remember, you can learn, you are loved, and you will succeed!💜

Our office staff is back to work, and we're receiving a couple questions in bulk!
🐬For ease, there is a picture of our school supply list below!
🐬For those of you who haven't received the email outlining the supply fee, essentially we wanted to take something off of your adult plate, and we wanted to make sure teachers got the supplies they needed when they needed them to cut down on storage and potential waste!
🐬If you haven't been able to upload your utility bill, please try to bring that in THIS WEEK. This will alleviate potential congestion and confusion in the office during Meet the Teacher!
🐬Use this Google Form to upload your utility bill (with your Gmail account, of course): https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeshtvkVjguRh8SsKuNzvLRRX_84Fzadaf7vC7QuAjYgfHRLQ/viewform?usp=send_form!
🐬Alternatively you can email a copy of your utility bill to Mrs. Smith at: angiedebo.elementaryschool@edmondschools.net!
Any other questions? Drop them in the comments below, and we'd be happy to help you out!

Happy Friday, Dolphins!🐬
Have you started your Back-to-School countdown yet? We have!
We’re just 1️⃣3️⃣ days aways! To get your mindset right, this weekend, pull out that Dolphin gear, and drop a photo in the comments!
Parents and guardians, if you’re getting your schedules organized for all things beginning of the year, we want to let you know that on Meet the Teacher night we will have Scoops Ice Cream Truck🍦and Psycho Taco🌮 parked at the school! You can also bring in your $30.00 supply fee for grade levels that opted out of traditional school supplies!
We can’t wait to see you all!💜

It's WWW, everyone! And this week our second-grade team wanted to take over!🐬
Our little Dolphins certainly experience huge jumps in academic skills each year, but no one sees those jumps quite like second-grade teachers who get to see increased reading fluency and mathematical competencies and the ever-evolving personalities of our sweet friends as they come into their own. They're almost on the upper end of elementary school with all the precious moments and lively energy of early childhood. Second grade is like the perfect middle ground!
We also want to take a moment to shout-out Mrs. Krist, who is making the move from kinder to second grade this year! And we need to congratulate former teaching assistant, Mrs. Morris, on her new role as a teacher on our SpEd team! We love seeing our Dolphin family members take on new challenges and roles to better serve our students!🎉
We're only a couple of short weeks away from BACK-TO-SCHOOL, and we can't wait to see you! Until then, we hope you know that everyone here at A.D. loves you, wishes you well, and is eagerly awaiting YOU!💜

Hey, Dolphins!🐬
Let’s kick off this week with a little BINGO twofer! This week, we want you to find a recipe and make it with an adult! You can use a cookbook, a website, social media; find something savory or something sweet; beginner friendly or advanced cooking level - all the above if you want. But find something tasty and share it with us in the comments!
Out local sweet tooth pundit, Ms. Rogers, has shared a quick mug cake recipe that looks delish!☕️🍰
Also, if you’re thinking about the upcoming year and have any questions, send us a DM so we can help you out!💜

Hey, Angie Debo Family!🐬
Simple Modern, an Oklahoma based drinkware manufacturer, is hosting a Stock Your School contest for US teachers, and our very own Mrs. Birmingham has entered! Teachers who reach the Top Ten 🔟 will be able to get new Simple Modern water bottles for their ENTIRE school!
Mrs. Birmingham is currently in the Top 30, but we’re hoping with your daily votes we can get her into one of those Top 10 spots and get some Simple Modern swag for all our Dolphins!
What’s even better? We love that Simple Modern is an OK based business, but they also have a huge focus on charitable contributions to nonprofits (a bunch of which are right here in OKC) - how amazing is that?! So even if we don’t win, check them out for all your drinkware needs because we love a business with a mission! 💧
Use the link below to vote daily for the rest of JULY:

It’s a twofer Friday, Dolphins!🐬
This weekend we’re asking you to find some nonfiction reading to indulge in! Remember nonfiction is the REAL stuff!
We stopped by Best of Books to check out some nonfiction titles that you might be interested in, but keep in mind, your local libraries are great spots to check too!
Let us know what you’re reading this weekend in the comments!📚

Woo-hoo! It's time for Well-Wish Wednesday, and our third-grade team has some SUPER EXCITING news for you! Drumroll, please!🥁
Third grade is now a team of FIVE! In addition to our anchors, Mrs. Bollinger, Mrs. Martin, and Mrs. Yarbrough, we're excited to announce that Mrs. McArthur has made the switch to third grade, and we have a new faculty face, Mrs. Watson!🎉
Third grade is a HUGE year for our Dolphins - who else remembers multiplication facts and state testing (🙋)? But that's not all third grade is! This team knows how to incorporate all the things we love into all the content we have to know, and they do it all while having fun and building community!
We're just a few short weeks away from Meet the Teacher, so soak up the sun, indulge in some idle time, and start prepping for a new year! As always, everyone at Angie Debo loves you and wishes you well, and we're so glad you're part of our family!

Happy new week, Dolphins!🐬
Every day is a great day to support local business, and today’s Summer Social BINGO task is all about being local! Shop local, read local, eat local - however you choose, take a moment to indulge in uniquely Oklahoman spots!
Miss Bell picked three of her favorite locally owned businesses to share today:
💙Blue7 (great selection of enrichment games; actually great selection of all the things)
📚Best of Books (If you want to start Sequoyah reading, they have all the books!)
🍜Tamashii (Ramen or rice - at Tamashii everything’s nice!)
Drop your favorite local spot in the comments, or try out Miss Bell’s and let us know what you think!
