This morning we were so excited to recognize 💜Mrs. Shelbi Jordan💜 as our Support Employee of the Year!
Mrs. Shelbi does all the critical work of managing student absences along with making sure subs are in our building to cover teacher absences...among literally a gajillion other things (She's always willing to lend a helping hand whenever and wherever it's necessary!)! We know we couldn't do the work we do every day without her, and we're so happy to call her ours!

❤️Coach Chartney❤️ was recognized as our Teacher of the Week and got one of her favorite little treats!
Our G.A.T.E. students recently participated in the Meaningful Economics & Entrepreneurship Competition at UCO, and one of our fifth-grade teams, made up of Bella, Ella, Lennon, and Darby, 🥈placed second🥈 with their concept "Screen-Go BINGO!" aimed at keeping children off devices by providing themed BINGO boards to promote different experiences! They got to share their innovative idea with the school at Dolphin Splash, and we were so impressed!

Fifth grade hosted their first (hopefully of many)🌭Fifth-Grade Family Cookout🌭!
We know 💜it takes a village💜 for each and every student to succeed. We also know that one of the easiest ways to build community is through shared meals!
A huge thanks to the Heaton family for bringing in Blue J's to make whipping up hot dogs fast and easy! And thank you to our fifth-grade families for providing all the "fixins" for a proper potluck!

Last week kindergarten and first grade were visited by the🐺sweetest pack of wolves🐺you could possibly imagine!
The Edmond Santa Fe High School Boys' Basketball Team came to bolster a love of literacy for our incipient readers! Our Dolphins also got a little lesson in 🏀ball-handling 101🏀!

This week’s showcase was performed by Mrs. Hopson’s FOURTH-grade class! They chose a song that went right along with💜Hispanic Heritage Month💜that was all about Spanish vocabulary that’s inherent in dancing!
Kensley, Amanda, Seanna, and Emma presented a “Fresh Breath” centered on their learning of the Gold Rush that was featured as this week’s 🧘♂️self-regulation strategy🧘♂️!

October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month, so to raise awareness and promote all things💜belonging💜, Mrs. Furlong's kindergarten class had a special guest reader out to their classroom today!
Ms. Hannah is a self-advocate with the Down Syndrome Association of Central Oklahoma (DASCO). She came to📖share a story📖and answer questions about Down Syndrome.
We know that🔑education is the key to empowering and elevating ourselves and others🔑, and it's never too early to learn to love, appreciate, and value what those around us bring to the table!

Can you tell that our students are🏆CHAMPIONS🏆of change?
This month's unified challenge through Special Olympics was to spell "CHAMPION" with student bodies (We just added the "s" for fun!🙃)!
We know inclusion sometimes requires changes - in physical things like routines and in mental things like mindsets - but💜all of our students💜are paving the way for that change each and every day through inclusion efforts!
